E. F. McPhail and Partners, Certified Practising Accountants, was established by the late Eric McPhail in 1945 in Little Collins Street, Melbourne. In 1954 Eric moved the practice to the Box Hill area and as the business expanded, he was joined by his sons, Ross in 1957 and Brian in 1972.

After 10 years with the firm Wayne Durdin was admitted as a partner in 1990 and helped Brian to grow the Accounting and Audit practices as Ross shifted his focus to developing the finance businesses of the Housing Loans Group.

With an eye on the future Matthew Drew became a partner of the firm in July 2017 having spent over 10 years working with Brian and Wayne either side of a career break living in London.

In 2020 we will celebrate our 75th Anniversary and look forward to many more years of helping our clients to achieve their financial goals.

Our Founder: Mr. Eric McPhail, FASA, FCIS (1907-1987)

Having founded the firm, Eric was one of the first people in Victoria to establish and become Secretary of Co-operative Housing Societies.

Over the years Eric developed a wealth of knowledge in general accountancy matters and was a recognised authority on Co-operative Housing Societies.

Eric retired from the practice on 30th June 1985 but maintained an active involvement in a consulting capacity until his death.
